On a serious note … probably the fastest on the street and track under 18 yrs, SJF’s very own Nick (aka mochi) has been having a tough couple of weeks.

From his FB:

“For those of you that dont know, i was in a serious accident on the 16th. A car ahead of me slammed their brakes for a ridiculous reason and i slammed into the back of it at 17-20mph and was instantly knocked out until paramedics assisted me. I brok my jaw, lost 4+ teeth, shattered my cheekbones and nose, and fractured my orbital socket and a coule bones in spine. Swelling around spinalcord temporarily impairs my balance and use of hands and coordination. My bike frame is cracked and bent, but i have face surgery and had my face reconstructed, and ill make a full recovery in a couple months. Im currently at the Adult building of acute rehab at Valley Mwdical. rm 27c if you wanna visit.”

I went out there today (and some of the iMD crew too) and the kid is alive and well … and on top of that in good spirits. It’s tough for me to see someone so talented and so in love with his bike be put on the injured reserve. This kid has heart though. That spinal injury is rough, but he recently regained some movement in his fingers but still texts like a teenager. He should be in the rehab building until Friday. If anybody wants to stop by to visit feel free to. Visiting hours end at 8:00 pm.

I’m going to leave a card at iMD … so if you stop by tomorrow or Wednesday you can sign it. If anybody wants to visit on Wednesday … meet at the shop around 6:30.

We hope you heal as fast as you ride, Nick.

This kind of thing can happen to any of us. Be safe out there.
