Hellyer Velodrome’s annual Testarossa Velodrome Challenge is right around the corner and iMiNUSD is a big part of the event this year. iMiNUSD is in charge of putting together Saturday night’s party at the Velodrome with the help of Tied House coming through with free “drinks”. There will be world class national champions racing to get a chunk of the $16,000 cash prize. Do not miss this event. JULY 1-2nd @Hellyer Velodrome.

Announcing the 2011 Testarossa Velodrome Challenge
Celebrating 120 years of fixed gear fever in San Jose CA.

(San Jose CA. – June 20th 2011) The Hellyer Velodrome Association and premier sponsor Testarossa Winery announce the 2011 Testarossa Velodrome Challenge – 2 days of Velodrome adrenaline and racing on July 1st and 2nd at the famed Hellyer Velodrome in San Jose CA. Registration is open with an exciting venue of racing, music, and fun for both competitors and spectators. Races include fixed gear fever favorites: Keirin, Miss n Out, Scratch, Points, Win & Out, 200m sprints and a kiddy kilo.

San Jose started fixed gear fever almost 120 years ago at its first Velodrome near the present day Race Street and the tradition continues with an impressive mix of World and National Competitors including the Project London Team and $16,000 in cash prizes at the 4th Testarossa Velodrome Challenge at the Hellyer Velodrome.

The Elite young Project London Team is coming to the TVC with a string of stellar record-breaking achievements this year in the World 200M TT, US National Standing Start, US Team Sprint, and North American Team Sprint. A spectacle not to miss the TVC event promoters has openly challenged the Project London riders to come and break the Hellyer Velodrome’s 200 m TT record of 10.84 seconds set by Jimmy Watkins. A challenge the Project London riders are openly looking forward too.

Other renowned 2011 TVC riders include: Cristin Walker former US National Champion, Jame Carney winner of 20 USA National Elite Championships, Jimmy Watkins who has won the Pan American Championships, as well as the US Elite Nationals, Logan Loaderformer winner the Grand Prix de Grasse in the Espoir Category and many more world and national competitors that are listed on the TVC “riders to watch” page.

Wooo, this Thursday is actually going to be a break from the rain! 0% chance of rain
that day so whoever has been holed up because of the rain, today is your chance to
ride around for a bit. For this social we will be heading to A Slice of New York. This
place has been voted best pizza of 2009 from the metro, the wave, and the mercury
news! It will be a nice change of pace from always eating the pizza at 4th St. Pizza
(which is pretty damn good). As usual, after heading to A Slice of New York we will
head back to downtown for our $5 pitchers and chill session at 4th. St. Pizza. See you
there! Oh and PS, this is a social paced ride, try to keep it one group as much as possible
or volunteer to lead some that are falling behind.

“To hell and Back” & Ghoul Sprints

This past week was a big week for iMD and SJF. With the costume ride kicking off our Halloween weekend and ending it with the Gold Sprints mansion party, the weekend was nothing short of Epic.

Thanks to all those who raced “To Hell and Back”. Tim Tornado Tsuruda aka “Twinky”, from SJF, took top honors followed by Marc “Marcopolis” and then Martine “The Big Gear”.

Our very first Goldsprints tournament was a huge success even with the little hardware hiccups during the beginning of the tournament. We had a total of 40 riders register for the event. Our biggest complaint for the night was the 42/17 gearing we decided to use for the sprints. I left it that way to make it even more painful for the racers.

Once again, Tim took top honors followed by Thyna Mao, Maurice Monge and Andrew “Fast” Ho coming in 4th place. Thanks to everyone who decided to spend their Halloween eve with us for sprints and drinks.

Big Thanks to Globe Bikes for hooking it up with a couple Roll 2’s for our Goldsprints setup, Open Sprints for providing support during our software/hardware build, DJ RESPIN for emceeing the event and Darin, from SJF, for letting us trash your place. Thank you October for the amazing month!

iMiNUSD Track Boutique is now open for business in the heart of downtown San Jose. The official grand opening release party will be within the next month. There is talk of an alleycat and trick comp for the grand opening event. iMiNUSD is your local dealer for Volume Bikes, IRO cycles, Chub Hub and Starfuckers Japan. They are also dealers of MKS, Nitto, FSA, Tange, Shimano, SRAM, Park Tools, Gran Compe, Suzue, Phil Wood and most other major brand name cycling parts. They can pretty much get anything you want that is fixed gear/cycling related.

They are located in between 3rd and 4th St. in downtown between San Carlos and San Fernando. Just walk down the Paseo de San Antonio and you will not miss the store.
